Workaround for Broken Microsoft Techcommunity RSS Feeds
Fare thee well, RSS. We barely knew ye.
In last week’s SIEM and XDR newsletter, I wrote up some instructions for how to fix the RSS feeds for the upgraded Microsoft Techcommunity site. Of course, not everyone reads that newsletter (duh!), and I’m seeing more and more people impacted by the situation. I’m also seeing the Techcommunity traffic being impacted. I’m not sure what the total impact is yet, but I have seen a significant drop in the usual traffic for new blog posts. I assume it has to do with the missing RSS feeds.
So, I’m reposting here so there’s yet another place to find the instructions on how to fix the RSS feeds.
Take the original RSS feed you have and insert t5/s/ between the domain the page path.
For example, the original RSS feed of https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/gxcuf89792/rss/board?board.id=AzureAdvancedThreatProtection
…now becomes…
https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/
t5/s/gxcuf89792/rss/board?board.id=AzureAdvancedThreatProtection
Of course, if you’re like me and utilize the RSS feeds heavily, modifying all your feeds could take a while.
Here’s another one for an example because the URL is a bit different. Here’s what the fixed RSS feed looks like for the Security Copilot blog:
https://techcommunity.microsoft.com/
t5/s/plugins/custom/microsoft/o365/custom-blog-rss?tid=7676089819165015962&board=SecurityCopilotBlog&size=25
Hopefully, the RSS feeds get added back soon.
